Random Acts of Kindness
From Join Me
Every Friday (now known as a Good Friday), each Joinee is tasked with a Random Act of Kindness, or RAoK — a selfless act performed by kind people to either help or cheer up a random stranger, for no reason other than to make people happier. Either spontaneous or planned in advance, RAoKs are encouraged by various online and offline communities.

[edit] Word Usages
The phrase "Random Acts of Kindness" is often abbreviated to "RAoK". The first such abbreviation was mentioned on the original Join Me Forum hosted with Bravenet.
The pronounciation of "RAoK" varies, but is usually pronounced like putting a "k" on the end of the word "row" (in the sense of an argument or telling-off — how inappropriate!). Hence something like "rr - ow - ck".
[edit] Origins / etymology
The phrase is thought to be a modification, or mangling, of "Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty", coined by Anne Herbert.
[edit] Random Act of Kindness Week
The second week of February is Random Act of Kindness week.
