Good Good Friday 2

From Join Me

(Redirected from GGF2)

According to Join Me terminology, every Friday is a "Good Friday", but on the the "real" Good Friday (of the western European Christian calendar) its goodness could be considered somewhat increased! Team Nottingham annually organise a celebration of this day in Nottingham, and the event is known as Good Good Friday.

The first Good Good Friday, GGF1, took place in 2004; Good Good Friday 2 (or GGF2) followed on 26th March 2005.

These have been followed by successors each year, including so far GGF3 in April 2006 and GGF4 in April 2007.

[edit] Good Good Friday 2 — the day's events

The meet started at 2pm in Via Fosse, a pub on the canal. There was the traditional duck race, which was won by Joinee Gatesy. Incidentally, Rogue Squadron's cheating was absolutely disgraceful, and we hope never to see the like of it again.

There was then a RAoK challenge in which the Joinees were divided into 4 teams. They had to reach 5 different locations in Nottingham and, when they got there, perform a RAoK. There were also bonus points available for completing a list of particularly silly RAoKs, the highlight of which definitely being "Tickle-a-goth" (picture). The challenge was won by Team 4. (Please help: whose team was this?)

After the challenge we retired back to Via Fosse for food, drink and merriment. There was a charity quiz for which joinees had brought tat to serve as prizes. It was won by Joinee Varma. Later on, Danny turned up and announced that Joinees Mossy, Gatesy, Jessie, Collins, Patzlaff, Jesus, Adam, Grace, Fletcher and Mr & Mrs 'Jamin were now silver, and that Joinees Sweeney, Kieran, Rufous, Paola and Kate (JJM) were now gold! After Danny's speech, Joinees Gresham and Hulme performed the name changing ceremony, for which they were both made Gold Joinees also.

Much of the rest of the evening was spent outside at Via Fosse. There were more silverings (Joinees Jen and Good of the Scottish collective come to mind), and there was a lot more drink. During the evening Jesus and his friend Ben stayed for "just one more" beer and managed to miss their train home. Twice.

At about midnight, many of the joinees headed for their beds, while others moved on to a club. Much is said about the goings on at said club, but the only thing we know for certain is that Gaz DID kiss Varma!
