2001 was a year (and the one we usually mean is the one in the Gregorian calender). Some things happened. Some of them probably even happened to you.

Great things were on the verge of happening to Danny Wallace.

Some nice Joinee-like things which happened in 2001:

• 390,000 people in the UK completed the population census and described their religion as Jedi.
• Wikipedia went online.
• The Russian Mir space station gets a well-earned rest, crashing into the Pacific.
• Joinee K's charity, Aid Convoy, starts working in Ukraine in addition to Kosova.
• Pope John Paul II sends the first Papal email from a laptop in his office.
• Michelle Trachtenberg starts playing "Dawn" in Buffy the vampire slayer.

Also in 2001:

• George W Bush was inaugurated as US President.
