The year 1983 receives a mention in the The Join Me anthem when Danny Wallace changes the nod-to-the-artist-formerly-known-as-Prince "party like it's 1999" lyric to "party like it's 1983". He goes on to explain that it was a "very good year for me, I was seven years old, enjoyed it a lot."

Which only goes to show, our Leader has always known how to get the most out of life.
