Originally the Manchester Guardian. The only national daily newspaper in the UK to be owned by a Trust rather than by a proprietor. Generally considered to be to the left of centre in Political terms. Rightly caused outrage when the Doonesbury strip was a casualty of the change from Broadsheet to Berliner size in September 2005. The strip was reinstated a week later.
